There are numerous mobile payments systems available to smartphone users in the UK. Come Autumn, there’ll be one more, as Zapp prepares to roll out its own solution later this year. For now, the company is busy partnering with financial institutions across the country to ensure adequate support for users.
The company this week revealed its first partners. Jumping on board the Zapp train are First Direct, HSBC, Nationwide, Santander and Metro Bank, all of whom plan to incorporate Zapp into their existing mobile applications. Zapp will allow customers to link their bank accounts to their Zapp digital wallet and pay instantly while also offering up to date financial information (such as balance) right on your phone.
Customers will be able to use Zapp to pay in stores via NFC, as well as online, using a dedicated smartphone or tablet application. According to The Daily Telegraph, users can also pay QR code-enabled bills by simply scanning the page with their phone.
