Gigabyte Shows "3D Power" Control On X79 Mobos

Gigabyte this week gave us an exclusive look at a new motherboard feature that it will be introducing with its Intel X79-based products.

The motherboard maker has developed hardware and software that will allow power-users to exert greater control. Specifically, Gigabyte has a new Digital PWM (pulse width modulation) controller that can limit and control current in a circuit.

"Since we are using a brand new Digital PWM controller for the CPU and memory," Gigabyte explained, "we have developed a fully interactive 3D utility that facilitates adjustment of the 3 dimensions that control the power delivery to the CPU and memory: Voltage, Phase and Frequency."

Check out the video below for a quick demo of the software:

Of course, Gigabyte is marketing this new feature as part of its latest motherboards. Specifically, the lineup includes the G1.Assassin 2, X79-UD7, X79-UD5 and X79-UD3.
