Tom's Hardware Guide Welcomes New Columnist

On 1st May, Tom's Hardware Guide will be premiering the first in a regular series of columns titled Second Hand Smoke.

Second Hand Smoke is written by Omid Rahmat, and has appeared on for the past 18 months. Second Hand Smoke has developed quite a following among game developers, and will now be expanding to include Tom's Hardware Guide readers. Omid will be providing business analysis of digital media markets, and expanding his traditional coverage beyond pure gaming issues to look at a broad range of digital media and multimedia technologies.

Omid Rahmat has worked in the area of digital media since 1987 in both Europe and the United States. Most recently he was Vice President of Jon Peddie Associates (JPA), but is now the principal pundit at his own firm, Doodah Marketing. Prior to joining JPA he was VP of Sales and Marketing for Video Seven, a subsidiary of SPEA Software AG. His writing has been published in The Economist, The Peddie Report, Game Developer Magazine, Gamasutra, Computer Graphics World, Next Generation Magazine, New Media Magazine, 3D Design, Cadence, and the San Francisco Business Times. He has been quoted in the Wall Street Journal, Business Week, Time Magazine, and numerous other publications, on issues relating to digital media technology.
