Pioneer preps first recordable DVD player

Pioneer Corporation will release the world's first recordable DVD players and disks this week.

The company said the devices will go on sale in Japan as soon as December 3, but won't be available in North American and Europe until next year.

In Japan, the players will retail for nearly $2,400, with each disk able to record up to six hours of video.
