Oracle Encourages Development of Linux-based Oracle Apps

Oracle has launched a $150 million support and marketing program that includes free development software to independent software vendors (ISVs) to develop Linux-based applications and design and testing assistance. Part of the development effort is based on the "two-for-one marketing fund" whereby Oracle will provide $2 for every $1 spent on approved marketing campaigns. The increasing popularity of Linux and customer demand are driving the move to Linux-based applications.

Linux is expected to grow as much as 58% over the next five years, in part due to its lower costs.
