OCZ Introduces its Speedy RevoDrive 350 PCIe SSDs

OCZ has announced its new line of RevoDrive drives, the RevoDrive 350 PCIe SSDs. These units are the fastest SSDs that OCZ manufactures and, in order to actually achieve the speeds they are rated at, they run over a PCI-Express 2.0 x8 interface (a standard SATA3 (6 Gb/s) interface is not nearly fast enough).

The RevoDrive 350 PCIe will come in three capacities: 240 GB, 480 GB, and 960 GB. The full sequential read and write speeds of the units are unlocked from the 480 GB model and upwards, as the 240 GB model is a little slower than the rest of the team.

"The new RevoDrive 350 is built using proven technology with the added benefit of utilizing in-house premium Toshiba flash and OCZ's proprietary Virtualized Controller Architecture (VCA) 2.0 to deliver highly efficient performance aggregation while reducing the burden on host resources," said Daryl Lang, Senior Vice President of Product Management for OCZ Storage Solutions." This next generation PCIe SSD is the ideal solution for performance-minded users looking to maximize both bandwidth and density for the complete gamut of gaming, content creation and workstation applications."

The units will consume about 9.5 W when running idle and about 14 W when active. Pricing for the 240 GB unit is expected to be $529, while the 480 GB and 960 GB units will set you back $829 and $1299, respectively. All of the drives come with a three-year manufacturer warranty.

Don't worry guys, its only almost $2 Per GB... But I guess if you need them, you need them.
