Micron to hike DDR output

Micron Technology Inc. says customer demand warrants an increase in production of DDR SDRAM memory to about 30% of the company's total DRAM capacity by Q4. Currently, DDR memory accounts for about 5 percent of production. Micron is fighting Rambus Inc. in the courts and in the marketplace.

A Micron executive points out that Advanced Micro Devices systems with DDR are shipping in volume and that increases are expected in DDR products including chipsets for servers and for Intel Corp.'s DDR supporting Pentium 4 chipset.
