Samsung's Galaxy S5 was announced in February and is set for launch in just a few weeks' time. In preparation for launch, the device will go up for pre-order in the United Kingdom at the end of this month. Pocket-Lint reports that the phone will go up for pre-order on March 28. The device will go on sale exactly two weeks later, on Friday, April 11.
The Galaxy S5 packs a 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED display that uses the ambient light sensor to automatically adjust not only brightness but also color, so viewing your phone's display in the bright sunshine isn't just about cranking the brightness all the way up. The phone runs on a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor and packs Adreno 330 graphics, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, support for MicroSD, a 16-megapixel camera with real-time HDR for pictures and video, LTE, and a 2800 mAh battery. The S5 supports LTE Category 4 (150 Mbps) and includes 802.11ac WiFi (2x2 MIMO), and can combine the two in 'download booster' mode.
The phone itself looks very much like the Galaxy S4 but it's got a soft touch, perforated backing. It is available in electric blue, black, white and gold, but Samsung is promising designer covers as well (though no word on when that's going to be available). We'll keep you posted on pricing, carriers, and accessories.
