As the arrival of the Galaxy S5 draws closer, we're hearing more about the specifics of the launch. Today brings news that Vodafone UK will have the exclusive on the gold version of the device. Pocket-Lint reports that the carrier has the exclusive on the gold model but will also sell the other models of Galaxy S5 in addition to the gold version. Pre-orders for the phone will open on March 28 ahead of the previously confirmed April 11 release date. Samsung plans to launch the Galaxy S5 in 150 countries simultaneously instead of its usual market-by-market approach.
Samsung's Galaxy S5 is the South Korean company's newest flagship phone and is the follow on to the Galaxy S4. Aside from gold, it'll also be available in electric blue, black, and white. Samsung is also promising designing covers, though there's no word on availability or pricing for those.
The Galaxy S5 packs a 5.1-inch full HD Super AMOLED display that uses the ambient light sensor to automatically adjust not only brightness but also colour. The phone runs on a 2.5 GHz Snapdragon 801 processor and packs Adreno 330 graphics, 2 GB of RAM, 16 GB of storage, support for MicroSD, a 16-megapixel camera with real-time HDR for pictures and video, LTE, and a 2800 mAh battery. The S5 supports LTE Category 4 (150 Mbps) and includes 802.11ac WiFi (2x2 MIMO), and can combine the two in 'download booster' mode.
