DRAM: Spot prices collapse to US$2.20, May contract prices drop 10%

On May 7, 128Mbit SDRAM spot prices plunged through the floor price of US$2.50 down to last December's record low of US$2.20. DRAM distributors had been confident that US$2.50 would be the turning point from which spot prices would begin to rise again, but as buyers are cautious, and Hynix Semiconductor is gathering cash by dumping inventory, prices have struck a new low, reported DRAM module makers.
