Asus Teases Two New Beastly ROG Matrix Graphics Cards

Asus has decided to tease us regarding two new graphics cards – the Matrix R9290X and the Matrix GTX780Ti. It doesn't take a genius to guess which chips each of those graphics cards carry – AMD's and Nvidia's flagship gaming chips.

Unlike a lot of teasing, Asus has taken a different approach this time around. Instead of showing us a little bit of the card and leaving a lot of questions, Asus has decided to show us all we want to see, but tell us nothing that we want to know. As such, we know exactly what the new ROG Matrix cards from Asus will look like, but have no idea what their GPU or memory clock speeds will be, nor what they will cost.

What we do know is that they will carry very custom PCB designs, which carry a 14-phase VRM circuit. The cooler on the units is a rather large dual-fan cooler, which is built using five heat pipes (one of which is even thicker than the rest) and a large aluminum fin array. Of course, the cards also feature backplates, dual 8-pin PCI-Express power connectors, as well as an LN2 mode switch and the usual set of display connectivity means.

It also remains unclear what the cards will cost, but like most ROG products, you can expect that they'll cost a pretty penny or two, with more information coming soon.

For a fraction of a second I thought it said 'Matrox' and was really really excited.

You see what you want to see...

Ho hum. Big deal - not! By the time these cards are ready for retailers to sell, the next-gen GPUs will have already been released. Nothing to see here...move along, move along...
