Is the UK About to Get the New Google Play Store?

Earlier this month, Google announced the roll out of Google Play 4.0, a cleaner, streamlined version of the Google Play Store for Android phones and tablets. However, while Google didn't specify that the update was U.S. only, it was certainly implied by the company's blog post on announcing the roll out.

"The redesigned Google Play store app starts rolling out today for Android phones and tablets running Android 2.2 (Froyo) and above," the company wrote. "People around the world should see it over the next few weeks."

That said, it would seem an international launch, or at least a UK launch, is close. Pocket-lint reports that while those that side-loaded the leaked Google Play 4.0 APK to a UK Android device had been missing some of the key elements, all of the features of the newly designed Google Play store now work in the UK.

Google has yet to comment on an official UK release but if you can't wait, Pocket-lint points out that the APK is available on Android Police's website. Let us know how you like it if you do decided to download it!
