Microsoft offers new Zune firmware update
Redmond (WA) - Microsoft recently unveiled its latest update for the Zune, optimizing a couple features and fixing a glitch that caused some songs to skip.
Version 1.3 of the Zune firmware is the third update since the iPod rival went on sale in November. The main patch is that it apparently fixes an issue that led to intermittent song skipping.
The update is also supposed to offer faster syncing when linked up to a PC and help with a minor battery draining problem.
The Zune has failed to make a serious dent in the market owning iPod territory in its four months at retail. Though it grabbed the #2 spot in February’s NPD list, it is still far behind the Apple competitor. Market share for the Zune only totaled about 8.8% last month.
