Iomega stopped making SCSI ZIP drives back in 1999 and never got around to making a SCSI drive that supported the 250 MB disks. For backup applications that involve large files, the faster interface along with support for bigger disks could be a welcome addition. Winstation Systems is now shipping just such a gadget. The company's internal SCSI ZIP 250 disk drive uses ZIP 100 MB and 250 MB Iomega disks. The SCSI ZIP drives are available in a standard 25.4mm (one inch) high form factor for 3.5" bay applications and a 32mm (1-5/16") height for 5-1/4" applications. The drive is backward-compatible with disks that have been formatted or written using IDE or SCSI-interface drives. The drive could be handy in saving wear and tear on your CD/RW for backups, but you won't be able to get one unless you buy a new machine that has one. Right now, it's only shipping to OEMs.
