YouTube rolls out virtual red carpet for awards
Los Angeles (CA) - The few YouTube users who have managed to become virtual celebrities will be honored at the first annual YouTube Video Awards.
Some of the categories are like Hollywood’s award shows, like best series, best comedy, and best musician. There are also some unusual categories, including "most creative" and "most adorable video ever".
YouTube selected the nominees for each category, and users are allowed to vote on which videos should win. The site today launched a new URL for the awards, www.youtube.com/YTAwards
The winners will be announced on March 25. Each user who submitted a winning video will receive a physical trophy. YouTube says the awards are likely to be an annual event, if there is enough interest in them this year.
