YouTube is known for sharing videos, but in the future it could be sharing money with video producers. Chad Hurley, YouTube’s Chief Executive has said that video makers could be compensated in the future. Hurley didn’t give any more details nor did he get any more specific about the timeline.
Hurley made his comments while speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos Switzerland last weekend. YouTube currently doesn’t give any money to video creators or posters. Some of the more popular videos have been viewed millions of times with the popular video "Evolution of Dance" garnering more than 40 million plays.
Other video sharing sites, namely Yahoo, are trying to reimburse would-be Spielbergs for quality videos. Yahoo recently launched a talent show and asked people to create and submit short video clips. The top prize was a cool $50,000 and a development deal for future shows.
