YouPlayGames to Partner with id Software and Even Balance
YouPlayGames, a privately funded company that consists of highly skilled gamers and industry technologists, announced on Wednesday that it is partnering exclusively with id Software and Even Balance, Inc. to offer a multi-player online gaming service that combines skill-based gameplay with highly popular licensed gaming titles, such as id's "Return to Castle Wolfenstein." As part of this offering, YouPlayGames is offering an account-based service where players can earn money and prizes while playing their favorite computer video games. Gamers at any skill level can play and those who connect to the Internet via YouPlayGames's servers to play "Return to Castle Wolfenstein" must first install Even Balance's current version of its PunkBuster Anti-Cheat software on their computers to compete against each other.
There is no entry fee to join the service, and when players open an account on YouPlayGames, they start the game with a "100% intact free life." Game players who are fragged and/or who leave the game in a damaged state pay for their life at the life cost rate determined by the game; and for each frag that game players register, game players receive a percentage of the life's cost. Life cost rates will be different for each gaming title. The online multi-player gaming service is anticipated to be launched by YouPlayGames at the end of this month.
