Yahoo preps its own media player
Hoping to challenge media player market leaders RealNetworks and Microsoft, among others, Yahoo is currently beta testing its own software for playing and managing digital media files.
Along with playing Internet radio stations, the Yahoo Player supports formats including MP3, Windows Media and CDs.
Among its features, the new software - like version 8 of the RealPlayer, unveiled this week - supports scrolling pages, forms and buttons, giving it the look and feel of a Web browser.
