Yahoo today unveiled a beta version of its desktop search application. The software is based on technology Yahoo licensed from X1 technologies and searches for virtually any content stored on a PC. The Desktop Search Beta supports more than 200 file types, according to Yahoo and - other than for examples Google’s desktop search - displays search results already when the user types a search query.
Other features include file previews, anti-piracy tools to protect the web browser cache and history as well as an audio and video search tool.
