Yahoo and Sandisk to challenge iPod supremacy
Mountain View (CA) - Yahoo and Sandisk have partnered up with a new MP3 player than wirelessly downloads songs from the Net. The Sansa Connect player will download music through Yahoo’s music store with special software developed by Zing. Several subscription plans are offered with the lowest one costing about $12 a month.
The 4GB Sansa Connect player with its 2.2" screen and integrated wi-fi is already selling in the United States and should be available in Canada shortly. Sandisk claims the player can hold up to 1000 songs and that it takes just 30 seconds to download a music clip.
Sandisk is in a distant second place in the MP3 market with around 9% of the market. Apple’s share is estimated at 74%.
