We started at FSB1700 (425 MHz system clock). There were no issues here whatsoever, even at default voltage.
FSB1800 was reliable as well, but we had to increase the northbridge voltage (see the overclocking results).
FSB1900 is already an excellent result, as it gives enthusiasts a nice margin to overclock Core 2 processors. Let’s see how much higher we can go.
A 500 MHz system clock is considered excellent; it equals FSB2000. We had to further increase the northbridge voltage to reach this speed, but it ran totally reliably.
We tried FSB2100 at 525 MHz base clock, which crashed once in a while. Clearly, the limit is somewhere between FSB2000 and FSB2100. We switched to a 65 nm Core 2 Extreme QX6850 to see if that would be more reliable, but it wasn’t.
