Applications

The Gigabyte GA-X38T-DQ6 takes a slight lead in 3D Studio Max at both default and overclocked speeds. This makes sense, because this application is significantly CPU bound, and Gigabyte "cheats" the most in terms of exceeding default speed (by 0.5%).
Audio

The top three boards are evenly matched in Lame MP3 encoding at default speed, but the GA-X38T-DQ6’s top overclock puts it in the lead at maximum CPU speed.

Gigabyte’s slight clock speed lead at both default and overclocked settings puts it in a commanding position for Ogg-Vorbis audio encoding.
Video

TMPGenc loves both memory and CPU speed, and we’re a little surprised to see the Asus Maximus Extreme falling behind the Gigabyte GA-X38T-DQ6 using the DivX codec at default clocks. Both are equally matched at the each board’s maximum CPU overclock.

The XviD codec appears a little more CPU dependent, so the GA-X38T-DQ6’s higher default and overclocked speeds keep it in the lead.
