World of Warcraft offers downloadable expansion
Millions of World of Warcraft players have upgraded to the latest expansion pack, but Blizzard is now offering players a very easy online upgrade that won’t even require you to get out of your chair. Players can now go through the Account Management page on the worldofwarcraft.com page to buy expansion keys and download the game client.
Previously, gamers actually had to purchase a retail box through online stores or by walking into the nearest Best Buy or Gamestop store. The $40 dollar Burning Crusade expansion pack sold more than 2.4 million copies in the first few days, but the majority of the 8.5 million players still haven’t upgraded.
WoW players don’t have to buy the expansion, but their characters won’t be able to see new content in the Outland, nor will they be able to gain higher levels. Some lower level players feel they have been forced to upgrade because of the level disparities in the player versus player battlegrounds.
