Worlds Smallest Hard Drive, At 0.85"es, Launches

Toshiba has been showing off its uber-small 0.85" hard drive which will hold up to 8 GB of data. Why bother continuing to miniaturize the traditional magnetic platter hard drive, particularly to the extent that it can only hold 8 GB, with ever cheaper NAND Flash on the market ?
Well, NAND Flash has much slower write times for data, one must remember, and so devices such as digital cameras needs to continue to use hard drives. Also, hard drives are more robust with less catastrophic potential failures than NAND. When a flash drive goes to memory heaven it takes all of its stored data with it ; hard drive data is more readily recovered when the vessel itself has sunk.
So the 0.85", Guinness World Record holding, hard drive from Toshiba might find work yet.
