World Wide Video's Surveillance Cameras

by - source: Tom's Hardware

Though video conferencing over the Internet has never really hit its stride, the camera technology that was supposed to enable it is definitely being used for purposes other than wiring your house to make your life a living soap opera on the web. World Wide Video puts the little cameras to use in its surveillance products, and just let us know about its new camera product line, which includes the RAV PTZ, the RAV LowLight, the Imager CCD and the Ultimate Miniature Imager CMOS Color Camera. The Remote Audio Video (RAV) PTZ (Pan, Tilt and Zoom) supports bi-directional audio/video and data transfers over one normal telephone line running at speeds from 9.6 kbps to 33.6 kbps. The system includes a PTZ color camera, microphone and speakers and uses a 1/4" color CCD sensor. The PTZ features auto/manual focus, electronic shutter, automatic brightness and black level calibration, exposure, hue and saturation controls.

The RAV Low Light is a color camera module that incorporates an 18x zoom lens using a 1/4" Super HAD CCDTM. The camera uses a DSP that allows the creation of various "Picture Effects" and "Digital Effects" and allows slower shutter speeds using built-in field memory. The Imager is a small form factor color camera based on a 1/4" color CCD image sensor that supports NTSC color frames. Features include manual focus, electronic shutter, automatic brightness and black level calibration. The Imager measures approximately 1 1/2" x 1 1/2" x 1 1/2", draws 160 mA, and weighs 8 g. WWV's Ultimate Miniature Imager CMOS Color Camera is based on a 1/3" sensor and supports a full NTSC color frame of 510 x 488 pixels while measuring 0.7" x 0.7" x 0.7". PAL support is also available and a single cable is provided to attach the camera to any compatible monitor.
