If you listen to Intel and other industry leaders, 2006 is supposed to be the year of the digital revolution. It is supposed to have computers and consumer electronics finally grow together. It is supposed to turn computers into almighty high definition content hubs. For this purpose, Intel even changed its slogan from 'Intel Inside' to 'Leap Ahead.' Yet Intel is merely leaping around, because the digital revolution is somewhat inhibited by the lack of universal interfaces that bridge the gap between computers and consumer electronics.

Hooking up your computer with your home stereo is a good example. Most people would use a regular stereo RCA cable to link audio devices to their receiver or amplifier. We recommend using fibre optics whenever possible, because electrical signals may suffer from differences in electric potential, which can cause annoying humming - unless you apply some sort of galvanic isolation to separate different sources. However, optical cables are expensive and people usually end up passing wires through their den.

A more beautiful solution to link source and playback devices is radio transmission. Although there is Bluetooth and Wireless LAN, almost all devices that fit into the digital home category are based on proprietary solutions that use either one of these (or standards such as DECT). This also applies on Logitech's Wireless Music product family, although it is based on Bluetooth 2.0.

The Wireless Music System for iPOD has already been reviewed on the web, so we turn to the PC version and the Wireless Headphones. All three are interoperable and allow for setting up a pretty nice network of audio transmitting and receiving devices.
