Windows 8 Has an 'Immersive' UI Browsing Mode
As we saw with the Windows 8 welcome screen, Microsoft is taking cues from its mobile OS Windows Phone 7 in the design of its next big desktop OS.
WinSuperSite now has some images showing a new Internet Explorer-powered UI mode that is being referred to as "Immersive." A big clue to what the Immersive UI will be like is Internet Explorer, which takes on a look that's much like the IE Mobile browser in Windows Phone.
The Internet Explorer Immersive mode in current builds is locked to a view that is at 640x480, indicating its not-yet-finished state. It's likely that this UI and browsing mode is meant for touch-based form factors, such as a tablet.
The browser software works, and has features such as browser history implemented and executed in ways very similar to Windows Phone 7.

Well, that will be interesting. Vista nearly cost them the farm, the ribbon UI has had only grudging acceptance, and now they want the desktop to be a phone.
Not as though there is no precident. Ubuntu is trying to commit suicide by making similar massive assumptions about what customers want.
it's 'chinese-proverb' time.
I dont like it. Microsoft is always trying to take away your choices. For example even these pics. Why the hell everywhere is bing. Maybe I want to use google or yahoo or something else. Why the hell is bing everywhere.

Bing is everywhere because they're Microsoft press shots! They're not going to show a competitor's search page!
Hope the desktop version is more Windows 7 than WP7...
The whole point of this UI approach is that is supposed to be suited to the form factor you are using. For phones and tablets, you'll get the Windows Phone look. For a full-size desktop PC or notebook, it will likely be closer to Windows 7's current layout.
I doubt windows 8 will be better looking if they r taking their ideas from windows 7 phone.
Lets look at it how it is, They are trying to push the Phone OS most people dislike, Into the PC OS most people tolerate.
The more I see of Windows 8 the less I like it, With ONE exception, I like the revised lock screen.

Closer to the truth. Also, we haven't seen enough of WIndows 8 to make any judgements.

The Ribbon was hated upon its release because people were accustomed to drop down menus for years. After 4 years of Ribbon, I hear ever more people, including die hard Excel and Access users, say they find the Ribbon an improvement, especially now that it's customisable.
Vista was a good concept. It turned Windows from a security disaster into the most secure non-Unix based OS ever. The UI was modern and reasonably efficient, and for those who didn't like it, a classic theme was included too.
It suffered from two things: it was too taxing on the hardware and was bugged at its release. The latter was fixed after a while, but the damage was done. I'm not defending Vista, I hated it as much as anyone. But it's unfair to say it was a bad concept. Poor execution is a bad thing, but the reasoning behind Vista was sound.
Ubuntu's Unity is actually a nice bet. It sits on the sides of the screen, a sensible move in an era of widescreen monitors running apps still designed for older form factors. The concept is simple and appealing to those who aren't technophile. And best of all, GNOME can be switched on with a few clicks. Or just use KDE or one of those lightweight desktop environments.
The bottom line is that fancy UI's are attractive and less and less of a burden for modern computers. Ubuntu and Windows are catered to the mainstream and the mainstream likes bling. And judging by Ubuntu's alpha and the leaked Windows 8 footage, they just might get it right.
I have a windows 7 that fails to boot sometimes. It always display when closing that there are open applications and I should force them to close even though there aren't any open applications. And also sometimes Windows 7 gives me file system errors and requires diskchk.
Yeah! Windows 7 isn't the all great OS. It is a crap. And instead to focus on stability MS as usual focuses on adding even more crap!

The problem is the user..lol, you can't complain for that, applications are applications, not the OS, I bet right after a clean install your pc works flawlessly, but everyone installs shit on their pcs...
