Windows XP may require hardware upgrades
Microsoft Corp.'s Website warns that the second version of the Windows XP beta, just released for $19.95, may require a minimum of 128MB of RAM and a 300MHz Pentium II processor. Budget machines sold more than a year ago may need a memory upgrade if users want the latest version of Redmond's OS. Though the hardware requirements could change before the official version ships, analysts do not expect them to be reduced. Historically, Microsoft has underestimated the requirements of its new systems.
