While not as old as Solitaire, FreeCell has by now also become an old friend; this game was introduced with Windows NT 4.0, and has been included in every Windows version since. In Vista, FreeCell gets lots of cosmetic changes: it's spruced up with the same graphics effects as in the new Solitaire version, and also inherits the sharp, precise edges introduced in Windows 9x versions.
Animations for card movement make game play look more realistic.
FreeCell also lets you save its game state, and if you like, you can even start up an earlier but still incomplete game.".
Notifications such as "That move is not allowed" show up only as hints at the edge of the game window. The endless cascade of dialog boxes you must click away has also fallen by the wayside."
