Nice to see someone playing Apple at their own game. It's about time MS took the fight to them, even if it is a bit tame.

Some good points, and some absolute rubbish!

The point about the learning curve is stupid. Every operating system has a learning curve if you have never used it before. It's assuming you have been brought up on Windows, some people have been brought up on Mac and there would be a learning curve involved learning Windows.

But anyway, it's about time microsoft hit back at apples level and with some good points.

Surely a better way would be to buy a Sony (or whatever) and clean their junk off? They all come with un-installers! That way you don't have to reinstall an operating system or pay the Apple tax.

And if we're talking about junk software slowing down a PC then iTunes is the worst offender of the lot. PC Pro Magazine found that it added 20 seconds to the boot time of a new PC.

Nice! MS beats Apple at its own game, who would have expected Microsoft to come up with something like this?

And what's more, pretty much every point raised here is true.

i'm anxious to see what will apple do to retaliate :D

i use both OSes, a Powerbook g4 (yes i know its obsolete, but it still alive and kickin) and a phenom 2 x4 pc. i always loved to see the marketing battle between those two. Endless :D

In other and less words, 'Don't buy Mac'

As much as I appreciate some of these things, why are Microsoft citing hardware issues they have no involvement with? You can just as easily pick up a pre-built PC that lacks the features they list

What MS is trying to say is that you get the OPTION to get all these extras, whereas with a mac you dont

Unfortunately this will get MS nowhere, the Apple rabid fanboys will buy products even if they dont perform their primary function so listing differences and how MS is better will only add to the, 'Im so different I own a Mac theory'. Apple fanboys are the lowest common denominator of fanboy just below Nvidia and Intel.

Microsoft is definitely overdue on limiting the terms of sale to OEM's to prevent them from installing crapware (30 day trials, toolbars, etc.) all over the place. Almost all of the "I'm a Mac and I'm a PC" beliefs are no longer the case with Windows 7; Microsoft should concentrate on demonstrating this in their marketing, along with emphasising that PCs and PC users are broad and diverse, unlike the Apple/Jobs cult, which ironically markets itself on being different.
