Microsoft Shows Windows Running on ARM

Look out tablets, you could be getting Windows!

Yesterday we learned that Microsoft is already previewing Internet Explorer 10, even though IE9 is still hot off the press. We love that kind of progress from Microsoft, but hidden within that demo that Microsoft was giving of IE10 at the MIX conference was something even bigger – Windows running on ARM.

That demo that Microsoft gave of Internet Explorer 10 was running on a copy of Windows that was powered by an Nvidia Tegra 2 chipset. That's pretty impressive stuff that points to Windows invading the ARM segment that's right now ruled by lightweight mobile operating systems.

I'd like to see Microsoft create an OS for tablets. Something scaled down and a little more simple. Windows itself is a little.. over kill?

Just need certain Windows apps porting to ARM now. I should imagine Office will be one if the first.
