Will Mobile Celeron blow by PII
Intel is set to release a 466MHz mobile Celeron that will outpace high-end Mobile Pentium II chips.
Sources say that on Sept. 15, the 433MHz and 466MHz mobile Celeron chips will ship, featuring 128 kB of integrated level 2 cache.
The release could put Intel's carefully managed product hierarchy somewhat out of whack, making cheaper Celeron-based notebooks faster than top-of-the-line Mobile Pentium II notebooks.
The Celeron will remain Intel's fastest mobile chip for up to six weeks, sources say, until the mobile Pentium III is rolled out at the end of October.
