Whitebook makers expect strong Q1
Quanta Computer and Compal Electronics expect Vista to stimulate notebook demand in the first quarter, with the two makers likely to see on-year shipment growth at 36% and 65%, respectively, according to company sources.Quanta and Compal were only able to ship 4.1 million and 2.66 million notebooks, respectively, in the first quarter of 2006 because of high inventory in the market, but they estimate notebook shipments of 5.6 million and 4.4 million units, respectively, for the first quarter of 2007, the sources said.
