Wayward web surfing wastes two days a month - study
London (England) - Adults waste around two working days a month surfing unrelated websites, according to a recently completed study in the UK. The study found that people are easily lured away from their intended destinations by shopping, news and travel websites.
The study was done for Moneysupermarket.com and surveyed 2,412 adults in the UK. One-fifth of the participants said they spend one-third of their online time surfing unlrelated websites. The problem is so common that the Europeans have called it "Wilfing", short for "What Was I looking for ?".
Among the study’s more interesting findings are that younger web surfers are the most easily distracted and were three times more likely to surf other websites than those older than 55 years-old. While the above-mentioned sites are the most popular distractions, the study found that men were most likely to be distracted by, surprise, adult entertainment sites.
