3Dfx Interactive Inc. is banking on PC users' desire to watch TV on their PCs.
The latest product announced by 3Dfx, the Voodoo3 3500 TV board will allow users to view TV programming on the PC, and to hook up their PC to a VCR to edit videos. The $249 price tag is approximately the same price as a standard TV set, too.
The high-end card incorporates a TV tuner and can encode and decode MPEG2 files, such as DVD signals. The board is made by STB Systems Inc., which merged with 3Dfx in December.
