Vodafone reduce £27k bill to £37
You all remember Ian Simpson and his 27k phone bill from Vodafone last week.
Simpson hooked his phone up to his laptop thinking his unlimited browsing covered downloads as well. He was then suitably shocked to receive a bill from Vodafone telling him to cough up the 27k he owed them for downloading away to his hearts content.
Simpson at first blamed Vodafone. In an exclusive with the Mirror, Mr Simpson claimed that Vodafone should have informed him he was clocking up such a monstrous bill. Vodafone retaliated saying that the intensity of Simson’s downloading meant that by the time the system flagged it as suspicious, he had already racked up a fairly substantial bill.
The Mirror today triumphantly declared that “Vodafone bosses initially refused to back down but relented after our exclusive story” and that the bill had been reduced to £37.
A Vodafone source said that the company accept that Mr Simpson did not do it deliberately. Although, that could be because they’re so afraid of the Mirror. . .
