Vivendi Games confirms E3 lineup with WoW expansion, F.E.A.R. 360, Eragon

Los Angeles (CA) - Fresh from its parent company’s separation from Universal, Vivendi Games is taking advantage of its newly independent status to add one more title to this year’s big E3 push, making it an official "triple threat :" It’s gearing up to show off Eragon, based not only on the best-selling Inheritance Trilogy gothic adventure novels for young adults, but also on the upcoming cinematic version from 20th Century-Fox.

This morning, the mystical dragon from Eragon adorns the front of the LA Convention Center ; but the real cause of the blizzard inside the building will probably be the World of Warcraft expansion pack, The Burning Crusade - a title to which Vivendi also owns licensing rights. Vivendi describes the Blizzard-developed title this morning as centering around the rise of the Burning Legion, which threatens to rekindle an ages-old war against Azeroth. Something tells me that war does get off the ground somewhat, otherwise it wouldn’t be much of a war game.

Rounding out the triple-thread will be F.E.A.R. 360, the Xbox 360-based version of the chiller/shooter on the Xbox platform. Much less is known about that title, but perhaps that’s the whole idea. And for those of you who truly do want a trip back in time, Vivendi is also planning to show off Miami Vice : The Game for the PSP. Two decades ago, the licensing mess surrounding the Miami Vice brand resulted in some of the worst games ever to come out of noplace ; this year, the title is slated to coincide with this summer’s theatrical version from Universal (no love lost between the two). A war breaks out among the land of elves and dragons in a mystical, far-off land, and only Crockett and Tubbs have the skills - and the car - to save the townspeople. Or maybe not.
