Vivendi game revenues surge 117%
Paris France - Vivendi has reported sharply higher revenues thanks to strong sales of the World of Warcraft Burning Crusade expansion pack. Revenues for the games divison, which includes the makers of WoW Blizzard Entertainment, jumped 117 percent.
The games division raked in 291 million Euros in revenue which is approximately $392.5 million dollars from January to March. According to Vivendi this increase was "primarily driven" by the successful release of the Burning Crusade expansion which sold 3.5 million copies in one month.
Overall revenues for Vivendi totaled more than 5 billion Euros which is 5.3% higher than the same period last year. Net income was up 22.8% versus last year and totaled 771 million Euros.
