Taiwan PC and mobo makers do not expect Vista boom
Leading Taiwanese makers of PCs and motherboards generally think Microsoft’s global launch of two home-use editions of its Windows Vista operating system, Home Basic and Home Premium, on January 30, will not substantially boost replacement of PCs and motherboards until the second half of this year, according to industry sources. The conservative outlook is mainly because Microsoft’s release of business-use Windows Vista at the end of November 2006 has not resulted in demand for PCs and motherboards as originally expected, the sources pointed out.
