Germantown (MD) - Throwing its hat into the limited Vista gadget arena, WeatherBug today announced that it has received certification from the new Windows operating system for a desktop weather application.

The gadget offers live, local forecasts of virtually every city in the country. The WeatherBug network, which licenses its technology to local news stations, includes 8000 tracking stations and 1000 video cameras throughout the US.

The application includes a full window of forecast and weather alert information, as well as a sidebar gadget. This allows for persistent WeatherBug data on the desktop, even when the user’s computer is turned off.

The new Vista app is available now as a free download from WeatherBug’s official website.
