Virtualization and multi-cores cutting into the server market
IDC has released a forecast that says the number of x86 servers shipped in the 2nd half of the decade will be cut by 4.5 million units. The almost 10% shrink in server shipments comes from the increasing use of multi-core CPUs and virtualization software like VMWare and Virtual PC.
