Virtual Computex

by - source: Tom's Hardware

As i'm sure you're all aware by now, the Computex 2003 annual trade show was set to begin this week, but unfortunately has been postponed until September due to the outbreak of SARS. Nevertheless, this doesn't change the fact that companies still have products planned on their release schedules, and without a physical venue, many have decided to create their own "virtual computex" in order to showcase their new and upcoming products. This certainly is an interesting concept, and, who knows? Maybe in a few years time we'll be able to prepare our Computex coverage directly from our PCs through various broadcasts over the Internet, rather than having to foot the bill to travel all the way to Taiwan. Even press conferences could be had over a medium similar the "Netmeeting" (video, text and audio chat). The only currently visible problem with this method is that, we then have to miss out on all of the highly regarded company parties that are destined to occur at least once per day of the show. You can't win 'em all, I guess.

You can view Prolink's virtual Computex
