Via Licenses Bluetooth Technology
Chipset maker Via Technologies Inc. said late Monday night that it had licensed Bluetooth technology from Ericsson.
The deal includes both radios and baseband cores. Acer Laboratories previously licensed Bluetooth technology from NewLogic Technologies. Microsoft has also given the green light to the technology.
"We are delighted to team up with Ericsson to explore the potential of Bluetooth," commented Jerry Sun, Special Assistant to the President and Head of the Networking Business Unit at VIA Technologies, Inc. "This licensing agreement on Bluetooth wireless technology extends our range of connectivity options for the PC and mobile arenas, in line with our Total Connectivity vision."
