EA to Release Command & Conquer Generals 2 in 2013
During the Video Game Awards 2011, Electronic Arts announced that its label Bioware has begun developing a sequel to the Command & Conquer Series.
Generals 2 is promised to deliver "cutting-edge visuals, sound, and destruction that will bring a new level of fidelity to strategy games." The release date is sometime in 2013.
The story of Command & Conquer Generals 2 puts users in the scenario of terrorist attacks that disrupt a world peace treaty, kill all leading politicians and put the globe's military powers in control. The player assumes military control to defeat terrorism. EA said that gamers will direct "three unique factions in a thrilling single-player campaign, and with friends online in cooperative and competitive multiplayer modes."
“For the last eight years, Command & Conquer fans have been begging for a return to the Generals universe,” said Jon Van Caneghem, Executive Producer of Command & Conquer Generals 2. “With Generals 2, we are bringing the Command & Conquer franchise back to its roots, blending strategic gameplay with fast-paced action -- all set in visually stunning theaters of war powered by Frostbite 2.”
The original Command & Conquer game was released in 1995. More than 30 million copies of the series have been sold since then.

Oh really? Why would we be "begging" for another game that has nothing to do with the C&C universe except for the name? The correct name for this product would be "Generals 2," not "Command and Conquer: Generals 2."
Some people have been hoping for it. Also the red alert universe is very different to the tiberium universe, why is generals any different? Although there were plans to originally link them. Anyway lets hope it comes out better than the last one.
They all tend to be related to the maniacal Nod regime and Kane (the bad guy) in some fashion. Personally I found Generals too much effort to play as it was way to involved with all the infantry and vehicle types some of which didn't have a good 'counter' (one type which is capable of besting another yet being bested by itself akin to a nemesis).
One thing I really didn't like was the close-in view which you couldn't zoom out from very much which left you doing a lot of scrolling around and lost the game some of the scale and scope that was found in the much earlier releases (Red Alert 2 and it's add-ons where the best and I doubt this one will be better either).
As for the Frostbite engine, it produces gorgeous graphics (Just take a look at BF3!) but in BF3 at least it is lacking some of the destruction effects and physics elements that made the real-world destruction component of earlier games such as BFBC2 look far better.
Having been a fan of C&C for over 15 years I will undoubtedly by the game when\if it comes out so EA can at least count me as an 'easy-sale' sucker!
