Using sci-fi to promote tech
One Internet company from the Silicon Hills of Austin, Texas, is betting that there is, as many people believe, a substantial overlap between the communities of tech workers and science fiction fandom. Matrix.net, an Internet traffic measurement company, is putting $250,000 into a science-fiction Website to be launched in November called The Infinite Matrix. The company has brought in some notable credentials and says the site will not blatantly advertise, though it is clearly an effort meant to attract the attention of potential clients, employees and press.
