US trade body to probe Hyundai Electronics
Agreeing to consider charges brought by Rambus Inc., the US International Trade Commission will investigate Korean chipmaker Hyundai Electronics for possible infringements of Rambus patents. If the organization agrees with the accusations of patent violations, it could permanently ban the sale, in the USA, of patented SDRAM memory chips manufactured by Hyundai or its US unit. A Trade Commission press release states, "By instituting this investigation, the ITC has not yet made any decision on the merits of the case."
