US LED market to top $5 billion by 2010, says research firm
Environmentally friendly and longer lasting than filament bulbs, LEDs are slowly emerging as the popular alternative in the US for everything from recessed room lighting to traffic signals and billboards, according to reports by Specialists in Business Information (SBI), a division of MarketResearch.com. SBI projects that the popularity of LEDs and other lighting alternatives, including fiber optics and compact fluorescents, will help to drive sales in both the commercial and residential lighting markets in the US well past the US$5 billion mark by 2010.
