Unisys releases Server Management Software
Unisys has released its new Server Sentinel server management software, along with new programs that manage applications on its data center servers. Server Sentinel 2.0 reportedly will be bundled with Unisys' ES7000 servers, which are powered by 8 to 32 Xeon processors or by 32 Intel Itanium processors. The new software security features have been expanded to identify system vulnerabilities through mapping of unpatched areas and include intrusion detection using Stormwatch software from Okena. Unisys also released another new product known as Application Sentinel, enabling companies to better manage their resources despite order volume due to seasonable business spikes.
The ES7000 series server is priced at approximately $100,000 US for an eight-way configuration, and includes the software at no additional charge. Application Sentinel is sold on a per processor basis, with each software module priced at about $1,000 US per processor.
