Tyan supports next-generation Opterons with 18 new products
Tyan Computer yesterday announced 18 server platforms and motherboards designed to support new AMD Opteron processors, including those utilizing the new Socket F (1207 pins) infrastructure. Targeting applications from entry-level workstations to datacenter servers, the lineup includes models supporting up to eight processors, the company said. According to AMD, its new Opteron 8218 processor is priced at $2149 in 1000-unit quantities, and the models 2218 and 1218 are respectively priced at $873 and $749 in 1000-unit quantities. More prices of AMD’s Socket-F Opteron CPUs are available here. Sampling and mass availability of Tyan’s new AMD-based products will kick off later this year, the company said.
