The G4, thankfully, does not aspire to be quite the all-in-one solution that the Genius MousePen would tout itself as. You can control the mouse using the tablet, but drawing into Microsoft Word and suchlike is not something we need worry about here.

The driver installation is painless and doesn't even require a restart. There is also a handy visual tutorial on the driver CD which guides you through the usage of the G4. Depending on what bundle you fork out for you can get extra software to help your image editing from scratch, including Photoshop.

Getting down to business the tablet works better than the MousePen from Genius. This is mainly because of the smoother surface and more responsive pad. You can mess around with the sensitivity and other settings, including the functions of the two buttons on the stylus, using the driver software.

In Conclusion

The G4 from Wacom is a superior product to the Genius MousePen, but it is also a more expensive one, at over double its price. This is a case of getting what you pay for, and when entering the market the MousePen is a far superior first-time buy, while the Wacom G4 is, we think, for those with a bit more aptitude and need for such a tablet, without wanting to stretch into the bounds of expensive professional tablets.
